What are the pre-requisites for the workshop?

The workshop will focus on basic and advanced turbomachine principles and  providing hands-on experience together with theoretical  ​​concepts. The participants of the workshop show know the basics of fluid dynamics. No prior knowledge of CFD or related techniques and the related software packages is required for the workshop.

The 4-day event will gradually take you form basic concept building to advanced industrial techniques covered by experts from institutions; namely IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, University of Texas, USA and industries namely Altair Engineering, CD Adapco, ANSYS,etc.

Hence, this 4 day experience will make you a more confident explorer!

 

Am I eligible to participate in the workshop?



Engineering students (whether B.Tech./B.E./M.S./M.Tech./Ph.D./other Research Scholars); Faculty (from different engineering departments including mechanical, aerospace, automotive, industrial, civil, chemical, electronics etc.) and Industry Professionals (from defense, aerospace, automotive, civil, energy, industrial (CAD,CAE,etc.), thermal, heat transfer, combustion, design etc. backgrounds) are welcome to attend the workshop on first come-first serve basis. The workshop is open for all those who are interested in exploring the field of general application of CFD/FEA.

What does the registration fee comprise of?
 

During the workshop i.e. from 21 to 24 June, all the cost on participants related to the workshop will be born by the organizing committee. Registration fee comprises of the following:

 

  • Workshop sessions & other interactive sessions.​
  • Training on advanced CFD/FEA techniques.
  • Workshop kit which includes study material together with fully functional silenced software packages.
  • Food (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks etc.); all workshop days.
  • Accommodation during the workshop.
  • Sight-seeing trip/Industrial trip.

How is the weather condition at Mandi in June-July?

Mandi is known to have the best climatic conditions during the period of May-July. The period has warm & comforting days and pleasant evenings and has an average temperature of 29 °C (84 °F). Thus, you need not carry woolen clothes. You may carry some woolen clothes if you plan to visit nearby places like Kullu-Manali, Rohtang Pass etc..

What should a  participants bring with him/her for the workshop?

Participants should carry their own laptops for software installation.  OS: Windows 7/XP/Vista.

What are the places to visit in or around Mandi?

Mandi is located in a serene mountain valley, at the river banks of Beas River & historical landmark which abounds in temples and monasteries. Apart form this, many scenic sites to visit in Mandi are Prashar Lake, Rewalsar Lake, Pandoh Dam, Bhima Kali Temple, Vishvakarma Temple to name a few. Situated almost in the middle of Himachal Pradesh, the place is just 153 kms away from Shimla, 70 kms away from Kullu and 110 kms away form Manali. Therefore, you can plan a relishing summer trip after the workshop to one of the picturesque places in Himachal Pradesh. We can assist you in planing your trip.​

How to register and pay for the workshop?

To reduce the paper work and fast processing, we have made facilities for online payment. Your transactions are save and secure. The payment for the workshop can be done in many ways:

  • You can you can use "Cash on Delivery" mode. You need to provide your email, home address etc. Courier people will visit your home to deliver the ticket and collect the money in cash. This facility is not available in Himachal Pradesh.
  • Payment can also be done via Cheque/ Draft. Details are given on  http://iitmandi.ayojak.com when you select cheque payment mode.
  • Payment can also be done by bank deposit.

How to plan my vacation trip along with the workshop?

We suggest you to plan your sight-seeing trip AFTER the workshop. If you plan before the workshop, you may be too tired during the workshop. We have scheduled the workshop in such a way that you can enjoy your visit with your family after the workshop. The workshop will end on Monday (24th June). Tuesday onwards, you can plan few days at Manali and few days at Manikaran. Both places are on the same rout. You can plan other tourists destinations. Plan to return on Friday or Saturday evening. You can take rest on Sunday at home. You need to inform the organizing committee in advance. We will arrange to make your visit memorable.

What if I come up with my family?

June month is an ideal time to enjoy vacations with  family in Himachal. Good and comfortable hotels at reasonable rates are available in Mandi.  List of hotels in Mandi can be seen here.
